Branding Design & Creating Brand Identity

Branding Design

What is branding design?

In essence, brand design involves creating a unique identity that makes your brand stand out against the competition. It is certainly something that should not be overlooked due to the sheer value it holds.

The importance of branding design

Your company’s branding has incredible power. It has the ability to change how consumers feel about your company and can have a large influence on their purchasing decisions. I think we can all recall a time where we bought something solely based on the packaging…

When done right, branding also has the ability to establish a sense of trust and loyalty with your customers. It’s all about putting the right messages out there and building strong relationships with your audience. Quite simply, it’s imperative that your brand messaging resonates with your target audience. If you can match these two elements together, then you’re certainly onto a winner.

How do you create brand identity?

Now we’re going to take a look at 6 steps involved in creating brand identity.

  • Know your audience

If you don’t have any clue when it comes to your customers, you really should. Knowing who you’re marketing to and having a clear idea of your target audience will be a foundation for your overarching strategy.

  • Look at your current brand

This might not be the case so much if you’re just starting out, but knowing where you already position yourself as a company already can be a big help in deciding when it comes to branding decisions. Start by auditing your current logo, typography, tone of voice etc. What Don’t like you like about your current branding? Set clear expectations where you feel it could be improved to coincide with your new direction.

  • Note what you’re competition is up to

Learning from others similar to you can be a big aid in developing your brand design. Of course, you want to be careful here, as you don’t want to run the risk of any plagiarism as individuality is key to strong brand design. Look at what your competition is doing that’s clearly working and work out how you discover your own niche.

  • Know your USPs

One of the things that’s going to help you most when it comes to establishing a brand identity is knowing your unique selling points (USPs). What sets you apart from the rest? What’s your specialism? Give this some solid thought into how you can hone this into your brand.

  • Create your brand messages

Now is the time to get working on your brand messaging. You need to consider logo design, straplines/taglines, graphics, fonts, colour – everything that you are going to use to portray your brand to the world.

We know this is a daunting step if you’re not in the know, but here at Alchemist we specialist in creating bespoke logo designs and even offer a greater range of services such as;

  • Keep it consistent

Congratulations on making it to the final stage! The last part of creating a brand identity is to keep EVERYTHING consistent. You can’t expect to imprint your brand in the minds of customers if you’re sending out inconsistent branding or mixed messages. Make sure your whole team is on board with your brand and ensure consistency throughout all of your brand communication.
